hello..

It would be very interesting to talk about Shih Tzu wrapping in paper. I see that some people/breeders always wrapping thems Shih Tzu, but other do not wrapp at all. How is better ? Or it depend from coat texture?

Very interesting, I also would like to know how you people do it?

I only wrap my shih tzu when they go to show. Other times I only do it with rubber bands.

You wrapping your dogs before show day or between shows?

I was always wrapping my Darlen between shows, but with Twister and Happy I don't know what to do.. It is very hard to keep clean coat if it isn't wrapped, because my dogs going to outside...

I wrap them the day before and after show. The other days they aren't wrapped.

My dogs also go outside, playing in the grass... But after they played I always wash their faces with no rinse shampoo and I brush the coat.

Yeah, at home I only band face hair.

But even if I wrap them in paper, my girl Maya always will find a manner to put out the paper and bands!!!! She is a very naugthy girl! And my boy Whisper sometimes play with Maya's hair... he pulls the bands out and eat it!!! I have very bad shih tzu's! Laughing

Now, for me it's no problem because I don't show Maya anymore. But if Riven will be here, I will definitly look after her. I don't want her coat to be damaged... Wink

My Twister was very bad boy too when he was younger. i was trying to wrapp him all in paper but he always remove it from him coat , the same was when he was in Poland with him breeder Bogumila , she was trying to wrapp him , but it wasn't good idea Smile, so she band him hairs...
At this momment I do not wrapp him, but I don't like him hairs too Sad it isn't so long how other shih-tzu , so I was thinking maybe I need to start wrapp him..

About Happy she don't care about her face , but i haven't try to wrapp her all. She is still 9 months old , so I keep her hairs free till she finish to change her coat Smile

My little Maya's coat also did not reach the ground and she's 14 months old right now.

Do you think wrapping the coat will make the coat grow faster? If it is, I would definitly try it on Maya. But it's lots of work also. I haven't experience with wrapping the whole coat...

How i know from Maltese and Yorkies breeders, they told that if hairs reaching ground the ends of hairs can damage in the outside and it don't grow anymore... So they always wrapping the coat to protect it.

My Twister is 2 years now , the hairs is on the ground only little bit , I would like to have dog with very long hairs Smile

My Happy is only 9months and her hairs is almost the same like Twister Laughing Laughing

I think it depends from dog also..

Ears are wrapped all the time.
Earlier I wrapped the body hair into curlpapers, later I queued little plaits and now Gile`s hair are free, we go to the shows not very frequetly as earlier, but the coat is pretty good :] But the best quality of her coat was in the "plait-time".

It mostl;y depends from the structure of coat, I think Smile Happy`s hair are rougher, such a coat is stronger, I think :]

I did/do exactly the same for home or show..
Laser lites is the brand I'm using since they are exported in Europe.. Lanolin Shampoo 1 big spoon of shampoo in one liter of water (that's what I'm using) more or less on head and end LOL... only one shampoo.. then Conditioning Drape (15ml) or Protein (60ml) always in 1 liter of water . I'm using the drape for the show, but at home either one or the other and I did/do not rinse
During the week each day sometimes 2 or 3 times a day I'm using on the beard, moustaches and the other end (pee pee) the no rinse Shampoo Show Off from Chris Christensen, I pour it very well on the dirty hair, then clean carefully and dry with a small soft towel and dry very well with the dryer. Then before wrapping again I spray a little bit of conditionning (mix of proteine with water) dry again and wrap.
It takes me around 10 minutes each time to do and redo a head during the day for maintenance

And does it help to keep the moustaches white?
What about the wrapping paper? Are you using this special rice paper for wrapping or something else?
I am using rice paper but when the dogs make the faces wet (they do not like the special bottle for drinking, they like drinking from the bowl), the paper gets wet and it loses its purpose...
